HILLSBORO, Mo. — Hillsboro High School will host its 5th annual POW/MIA Ceremony and Football Game on Friday, Sept. 4, honoring the sacrifices of American service members and their families. The Hillsboro R-3 School District was the first in the nation to be designated a POW/MIA School, and this tradition has become a powerful symbol of respect and remembrance for the community. Many surviving POW's and MIA family members will be in attendance.

The event has brought together students, athletes, veterans and community members to recognize those who were prisoners of war or remain missing in action. The evening includes a solemn ceremony followed by the football game, creating a moment of reflection as well as celebration of freedom.

“I have been very proud of the respect and reverence shown by our students, athletes, staff and community for our American heroes,” said Hillsboro High School Principal Mark Groner. “This event is one of the very best things that our school district does. If you haven’t been able to attend in the past, I wholeheartedly recommend that you be our guests this year. You won’t regret it.”

Hillsboro R-3 School Distict is proud to host this event. The ceremony starts at 5:30pm and Kickoff has been pushed back to 7:30pm. Everyone is invited to attend, and local media outlets are welcome to cover the ceremony and game. The Hillsboro R-3 School District encourages all who value service, sacrifice and community to join in this meaningful evening.
