The holiday season should be a time of celebration, but for some families, the added expense of holiday meals and Christmas gifts can create financial challenges. The Hillsboro R-3 School District wants families to know that help is available.
Through its Holiday Help Program, the district works with community organizations, local partners and generous donors to provide Thanksgiving meals and Christmas assistance to families in need.
The program is open to families who may be experiencing financial difficulties, including those who have never needed assistance before.
Important Deadlines for Families Requesting Assistance
Families interested in receiving holiday assistance should be aware of two important deadlines:
Thanksgiving meal assistance: Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026
Christmas assistance: Friday, Nov. 13, 2026
Families are encouraged to request assistance before the appropriate deadline.

The Holiday Help Program would not be possible without the generosity of local businesses, community organizations and individuals who support Hillsboro R-3 students and families.
Community members who would like to help can contribute toward Thanksgiving meals, Christmas gifts or both. Every contribution helps the district provide meaningful support to families during the holiday season.
